The beach

OK, first of all, I am not responsible for this picture. It comes from my friend Sally who is the photographic genius. But it is from a trip to the beach and it makes me really happy when I look at it. Sally and I just had three very productive days of sewing and hopefully you will soon see the fruit of our labor. While we were there it was very gray, certainly not the pretty colors that you see from a previous trip until the day we left to come home when the sun came out. Now why is it that we accept the beach no matter what the weather? I think it is mostly because it isn't the beach really at all, but the opportunity to escape reality, which is really a very helpful coping devise.

Not that life here at home isn't wonderful, because it really is most of the time, but there are the times when it is good to get up in the morning, pour your coffee, go directly to your sewing machine and just sew your heart out. Get dressed when you want to, eat when you want to, don't think about laundry, dishes, the phone doesn't ring, and all of this is done while you look out the window at the ocean.
